Waterways Extension Program
Redland City Council is committed to improving the health of Redlands' waterways.
The Waterways Extension Program (WEP) aims to reduce pollutants entering Redlands waterways through assisting landholders with catchment and waterway management on private property.
The program acts on the findings of Council’s ‘hotspot’ monitoring program which measures nutrient and sediment loads in our local creeks during rainfall events. Information from this monitoring determines priority areas for the Waterways Extension Program activities. Landholders in priority areas are offered technical, practical and financial support to implement projects to improve waterway health.
Council is seeking to partner with landholders to undertake projects to keep our waterways healthy, clean and free from pollution. Hotspots in the Hilliards Creek, Eprapah Creek and Tarradarrapin catchments have been identified for priority action.
Benefits to Landholders
- Financial contribution towards stream bank, farm dam and wetland enhancement projects (eg. fencing, weed control and revegetation)
- Financial assistance to rehabilitate erosion prone or degraded areas
- One-off financial contribution towards septic system inspection, maintenance or upgrade
- Advise on best management practice for your property and/or assistance with developing a property management plan
- Advise on stock management, pasture improvement and fertiliser application
